Literally the end of an era, Bible!

The writing on the wall was there all along! Ever since Kourtney Kardashian expressed her frustration of not being able to spend time with her kids, it was a downhill for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, imho.

I personally didnt want to continue to watch if Kourtney left because I love her! I mean, who doesn't! She is the queen of monotone conversations, seriously witty one-liners and come on, she is the "most exciting" to look at. (Sorry Kim, you were wrong)

This show hit home because of the Kardashians' strength, their family closeness, their business savvy, celebrations and Scott! These wonderful women always took the brick bats and turned them into bouquets. You can call them "Kartrashians" but you cannot deny the fact that they really all made successful careers with the show and are running successful businesses. From the beginning, no matter how scripted, they always came back as a family despite the multiple "real" sibling fights.

I loved watching how close Kourtney and Khloe ( Towanda and Yolanda !) were and their light banter with the middle sister (So it got increasingly difficult to watch them grow apart).  Do you remember Kourtney defending Kim's marriage to Kris on a late night TV show? Or how everyone rallied for their mom in the middle of Caitlyn's war against Kris just as she transitioned? It felt good to watch them so tight knit as a family. No wonder, the episodes with their weddings have been the most watched (I know it feels weird to call them episodes as against to real life!)

Kim has also used her power of influence on freeing Alice Marie Johnson, a prison reform advocate who was serving jail time for a non-violent drug offense for 24 yrs. From what is happening in our country with all the influential "celebrities" keeping quiet about important issues, watching Kim do this makes me slightly optimistic about the world that we are living in. She knows people listen to her and she uses that voice for good, more power to her!

The sisters have almost always taken the high road. In instances that presented opportunities for them to easily badmouth someone, they chose to be respectful. Take Blac Chyna for example. They have all refused to talk negatively about her in interviews because of Dream. They have time and again maintained that anything they say about Chyna, Dream is going to watch that someday and for that , they cannot sling mud at her mother.

Unfortunately, of late, the show (or their lives) has been filled with the sisters spewing venom against each other. I have to admit, I stopped watching the show when Kim got robbed. I had decided to start again this year. But all the drama and the sisters "literally" kicking and punching each other, calling each other vicious names and hurting each other was too much to take. I havent even watched the trailer of Kim and Kourtney's fight!

[I am obviously not going to share a link to the actual fight because its too painful to watch! BUT please watch this hilarious take on it! We are going to hell for enjoying this]

And as if the elder sisters set precedence, now Kylie and Kendall are at each others' throats (Kylie hit Kendall with her shoes!)

With all this negativity, the show had to lose it's foothold. Esp in 2020, when not a day goes by without a surprise of a brand new pandemic or a wildfire, they really just should have decided not to air such episodes. Scripting more positive, sisterly love stuff - now that would have raised the viewership! How did the momager not get that that was their USP, the family bonding after all these years.

You gotta admit, the show ending is an end of an era itself. The amount of influence this family has had on the decade is immense! They have got people looking like them everywhere! They have defined the make-up, the clothes, the hair and the damn lip fillers! I personally hate the overly contoured, heavy makeup with nude lips look but "literally" everyone loves it and isnt quitting anytime soon. Before Kim, you didnt see a curvy woman wearing tank tops and tight long skirts a lot. She changed the game. I don't want to talk about the lip filler trend that Kylie has set but I would like to acknowledge that she has single-handedly got the plastic surgeons of the world more visibility and customers (mostly teens?!). Don't forget, Khloe and Kourtney got everyone to hit the gym and get fit!

Their black culture appropriation and not even acknowledging it seriously annoys me like everyone else  but you know what, let me write about it in another post.

I thought the show was gonna continue to run until the second generation of Kardashians started "swearing on the bible" and building more business with Kris as a grandMomager (!) but I guess, it had to end someday. With their thriving make-up, shapewear, Jeans businesses and lifestyle blogs though, they are here to stay in the public eye for a long time. They may not be able to control their narratives and keep the media wait for them to actually spill the juicy deets of the many controversies they have courted, but with them you never know. Because Kris Jenner is no ordinary momager. We have to wait and watch for her to spin something new, she is going to get them keep "pooshing" their boundaries.
